Two plans were created for Booker, the more recent one had the sliproads at the far western end of the site to keep them away from the nearby J4. There would have been a bridge between the two petrol stations, but other than that the design was very similar to Tetsworth.
The previous plans had the services slightly offset, with the westbound ones being a little more west, and a bridge linking the two sites. The site itself and the buildings would have been much larger.
Both plans were discounted because they are so far from the nearest service area at the time, Cherwell Valley, and this site was also very close to M40 J4 which was due to be expanded. At the time Oxford services were the only ones to get the go-ahead, but recently a much nearer site at Beaconsfield has opened too.
One report refers to a proposed service area on the M40 near Park Lane - very close to Booker, due to open in 1981 - but nothing else is known about it.
