Trivia

Not to be mixed up with Derby South, these new services opened on the 29th July and and mirror Leicester services which opened four weeks before. The official name of this service area is Derby with Burton, it seems that Extra have learnt from all the trouble at Blackburn with Darwen!

One of the signs for the services has the knife-and-fork symbol upside down. So, a good job all round then.

The services opened on the 29th July 2008.

The Starbucks at Derby with Burton Services closed in December 2009, for info...

Visited Cherry Tree Farm earlier this week. I have to say that everything was first class. Had a large carvery at £5.95 which was exceptionally good. Staff were friendly and helpful and had a pint of the locally produced cask ale(nutbrook) which was excellent. Couldn't believe the size of the homemade gateauxs.

Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Cherry Tree Farm Pub - we paid a visit to this place today for an impromptu family get together on our daughter's birthday. In a nut shell - I wish we hadn't bothered. The food is cheap but the service is not cheerful. There is no facility to open a 'tab' at the bar. As our party did not arrive at the same time, this meant that I had to visit the bar several times to pay for various meals and drinks. The plates were not warmed and my food was soon cold, and some of the food was uncooked (roast potatoes - very undercooked in the centre) I spoke to the duty manager, who duly listened to my complaints and then asked if I had anything further to add - then she walked away!! She returned with a card so that I could spell her name properly: Francesca Dalloway, duty manager at the Cherry Tree Farm Pub 07/04/09.
If you are ever in this area, I would recommend KFC opposite, where the food is at least guaranteed to be at a consistent standard and the staff are trained to be courteous and friendly.

i must say, looking at those pictures, the service station seems very continental; the cafe and little shop and how everything is 'linked' with the main service area and the petrol forecourt.

looks very nice
