Some of the original Moto brands.

An M&S was planned here but it was postponed, and the services were extended to gain a Greggs instead. An M&S store finally opened in March 2016 in the former EDC restaurant area.

It had one of the last remaining trucker's cafés on the motorway network. Many of the previously smaller units have been merged over time, to create one large shop.

The services are connected by public footpath to Hugh Hill Lane and the wider road network of Thorne. In 2005 there were plans for the services' access road to be exploited to provide full access between the motorway and the local road network, as part of a surrounding business park development. This was dropped at the time but keeps being reconsidered.

The services' car park is a base for a local Park & Share scheme.

The BP here uses internal WHSmith branding, but externally is still branded as the own branded "Shop".

Previous Plans

One of the newer services, Doncaster was proposed by Pavilion. The services here were originally proposed in 1993, but alternatives were then explored at J3 and north of J5. It had planning permission for ten years before it opened in 2000.

A mile south there is land shaped for the Hatfield services which was never utilised as it was thought to be better to build Doncaster and serve two roads in one, especially given that the M180's rather nondescript landscape has a habit of sending drivers to sleep. In 1986 a plan was put forward to build services north of J6.

Survey Results

In May 2012 and August 2011, Visit England rated the services as 3 stars.

In 2006 the services won a five star loo award.
