Though marred by a shadow, the details of the Pear Tree site at opening on 29 June 1964 are visible. The motor lodge building survived until the turn of the twenty-first century, when it was replaced with a Holiday Inn and Travelodge; the amenity building, presumably originally a Forte Autogrill and/or snack bar, can be seen on the right.
