The westbound services on the front of a 1960s postcard. Thanks to Tony Frost for clearing a few things up: the building to the right is actually the eastbound facilities, with the narrow motorway being in a deep cutting (you can see the boundary fence to the right). He adds that the roundels are now closed, and the eastbound side features a large restaurant area which is closed and partitioned out of sight.

On the back it reads "Good food, service and comfort with an unrivalled panoramic view of the Medway Estuary. Excellent parking with petrol station alongside." Oh how our expectations have changed!
