The plaque at Watford Gap, being unveiled by Chris Mole MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport, in front of a small exhibition about the services.

The plaque reads: "Marking 50 years of the travelling public and the opening of Watford Gap on 2nd November 1959".

To the left we have "As long as there are cars on the road, Watford Gap will be synonymous with the 1960s dream of progress and with the event of stopping for rest and relaxation on the Motorway" by David Lawrence. In the background are old photos and plans, including scans from the Blue Boar autograph book.
