A convenience store franchise which made a short appearance at Roadchef services in the 1990s before being replaced by Roadchef's own brand reStore. In June 2015, Roadchef announced that they are now trialling Spar once again at Strensham northbound and Northampton. It is also returning to motorway services with Euro Garages. Possibly the only convenience store brand to have their own corporate sites, which are under the "Blakemore Retail" name (formerly "Tates") and usually use Texaco and Shell fuel. They have brand partnerships with Subway and Greggs.

For a while, a lot of Spar stores, including the former store at the petrol station at Bolton West, had an own branded coffee machine called Censa. This has since been replaced across the Spar network by Costa Express and Starbucks on the Go.

Always been a relatively common choice for A-road forecourt shops, and is consistently increasing in popularity due to many Esso corporate purchases by Euro Garages.
