MSO Home - Brands - Welcome Lodge
Welcome Lodge used to be Welcome Break's motel brand, but they are now being re-branded as Days Inn as it has been proven that bigger names attract more customers. Most of the sites were re-branded fairly quickly, but Charnock Richard, Newport Pagnell and Sarn Park kept their Welcome Lodges for much longer than the rest. As of July 2008, the sites at Newport Pagnell and Sarn Park (or Milton Keynes and Bridgend if you work for Days Inn's marketing department) have been re-branded.
Welcome Lodge took over after Granada bought Trusthouse Forte who owned Welcome Break. Granada insisted that all their services had a Travelodge and a Little Chef, but soon afterwards Granada was ordered to sell off most of the Welcome Break sites. Due to franchise complications, Welcome Break had to find their own alternatives to Travelodge and Little Chef - Welcome Lodge and Red Hen, although Red Hens are now non-existent and there is only one Welcome Lodge out there, at Charnock Richard.
