We always have our break at an M&S services where we can. You know exactly what you're getting and you know it's going to be a lot cheaper than the usual BK/lil'chef/costa offerings.

I like M&S Simply Food on motorways, for one thing it has given us travellers some decent grub at a reasonable price instead of the rip off prices charged by the Burger Meisters etc !
Its also quite nice food ! Sometimes I find that it puts me in such a good mood that I buy some flowers also, for my wife !!

To "C0ncern shopper". Please don't tar all the M&S outlets with the same brush. Come and visit Carmarthen store, food dept., and you will get a welcome and service that will impress you. If you don't, ask for the dicky bow man and he will sort everything for you with smile and a song.

Here's an idea for all you people complaining about only getting one plastic bag - take your own bags with you! Have a supply in the boot of your car.

Dropped into Stafford M&S and after quite a long wait because there were 6 people in the queue and only one girl serving I eventually got my purchases to the checkout. I had about £20 worth of food and after jamming most of it in to a ridiculously small bag the cashier informed me I would have to carry the rest as I could only have one bag. When I asked why she did not know. I have arthritis in my hands and this policy seems very petty and made it very awkward for me to carry my goods to the car. Upon complaining to M&S i got a stock reply stating I could have had another bag for 5p. Well, you need to tell your staff that !

I was very serprised how I was treated at the M&S Outlet in Lewisham London today. after I tried to return a skirt which I bought on 31.12.10 for £21.00 I haven't worn it because the zip was broken I could not try it on as the fitting room was shut on that day. When I return it on Sunday 02.01.11 as they were shut on 01.01.11 I was told in a very abrupt way they will not take it back because their staff go through all items before they are put out to the public so they would have seen the zip if it was broken. I could not believe the way in which the lady spoke to me even when I was talking to her she was shouting and talking over me as if what I have to say doesn't mean anything. I was so upset and did not want to embarass myself more than how that lady make me felt so I walk away and left the skirt in their position. "So these staff don't make mistakes". I bought the skirt from a gift card given to me for my Birthday but that day was the last day I walk into an M&S store because I will never shop there again. I got better treatment in Tesco supermarket before. I was told I can write to head office customer service. I am waiting for their respond because although it said on the wall no refund if damage by you which I didn't, on the receipt it says you are free to exchange or refund last date 04.01.2011. Hugh surprise though as I thought this was a top store with top class staff especially at a supervisory level

I love stopping here with my two kids on our way up north - there's a fantastic duck pond and ample seating. But why do Marks and Spencer only allow one small plastic bag per customer for all our lunch and drinks regardless of how many its for? I realise that Britain is drowning under a sea of plastic bags, but, I can help myself to as many individually wrapped plastic forks that I like and I could buy another bag for 5p so I think there's a few double standards here! Have some common sense M and S and stop being so righteous when really you don't care that much about the environment. I will remember to bring my bag next time - and maybe my own lunch....

Great idea, we stop here all the time, and actively look for service stations with M&S simply food.
With regard to complaints above, I complained to M&S Head Office re. service at Bluewater cafe and it took almost 2 months for my reply, not good M&S!
