Hooray! That means that it should be less cramped. That should spark a change elsewhere in the chain.

I hear Durham is getting a McDonalds soon. Great news, thought the close proximity to the Thinford restaurant and the Services' limited stature would prevent this happening.

I doubt they'll be able to stick it in the cramped Wimpy/BC space. I did notice on the last occasion I visited that they had built a fancy walkway leading to the toilets, a white facade, which, alas, failed to completely cover the original manky brickwork. Perhaps a wider refurb is on the cards with the large Restbite-Costa turfed out/reshaped to make room.

Looks like it's receiving some needed investment, anyway.

Hello,

Liking the user name! I believe Roadchef have received money from their owners to spend on refurbishing 6 of their services. Discounting the ones that have already had McDonalds/HFC applied, this should cover most of their estate, so it's quite likely that Durham will see some sort of investment. I know Rownhams west is on the list, and they're going to be doing a pretty good job with it. I'm not sure which pot the Magor improvements came from, so we've still got 5 more to guess.
