It's thought that First built the tiny Bridgwater services, and then took on two more services from Granada as part of a condition which allowed them to take over Pavilion. It has also been said that a husband and wife working for Granada created First by buying two services, but this is quite unlikely.
Their two services are regularly slated and regarded to be amongst the worst in Britain. Having said that, they were the only operator willing to let Peter Kay film his mockumentary 'At the Services' in their services, which showed them in a rather bad light.
Having already bought Bridgwater, Moto are now going to take over the entire First business, but hand Bolton West back to First's shareholders, keeping only Magor and the Symonds Yat truckstop on the A40.
