Trivia:

Cullompton is a very small service area and it's built on the site of an old station yard. It's one of two services owned by Extra but leased out to McDonalds, the other being Blackburn with Darwen.

The services have just finished being refurbished. The changes included a new toilet block with showers, more parking and improved petrol facilities. Whilst making the changes the facilities available were extremely reduced.

Survey results:

The services came last in Holiday Which? Magazine's survey in 2006, as they said it was "little more than a McDonalds next to a petrol station", and it had unflushed toilets with broken seats and broken locks. But Cullompton don't accept - see BBC NewsOpen link in a new window.

The toilets (well, the male ones at least) have always reminded me of the toilets in the N64 Goldeneye 007 Game...

There also used to be a Little Chef (I think it was an LC) here too. It is also on the site of the former Cullompton Railway Station (looking at the track from the northern side of the buildings, you can still see the northbound platforms!)

The fact that Cullompton is only a McDonalds and a petrol is what makes it among hte best in the country, due to the lack of tasteless, overpriced food.

Avoid the service area, that is, not this web site. ;)

So now it's not even "little more than a McDonalds next to a petrol station".

Just avoid this site!
