Knutsford is an old service area with a Fresh Express and Caffè Ritazza units on the bridge. The motel is on the northbound side but southbound drivers can access it via the bridge. The services are very close to J19, and the northbound onslip is very short.
The southbound services have a ban on lorries due to a lack of space, instead they should use Moto's nearby Lymm Truckstop.

Knutsford in the late '60s, as seen on the front of an old postcard, taken at roughly the same angle as the first photo. Gosh, service stations were small in those days! |
Trivia:
On the 9th of December 2004 a Marks and Spencers opened here - Moto's fourth at the time. A shortage of space and increase in HGV-crimes led to Moto asking all lorries to head to their larger, securer site at Lymm. However, if you drive past all the 'no lorries' signs, you'll find that there are spaces for lorries available.
The parking prices seem to come with an unusual (and rather expensive) tier system which isn't heard of at most services. There is a works depot on the southbound side.
Knutsford is William Roache (who plays Ken Barlow in Coronation Street)'s favourite service station. You can't get much more trivial than that!
Survey results:
In 2006 the services won a four star loo award.
Also in 2006, Holiday Which? rated the services at 3/5.
