Trivia:

Not to be mixed up with Leicester Forest East and Markfield, Leicester is Extra's newest service area. It managed to crop up and get planning permission rather unscathed, and it opened on the 24th June 2008. The A46 is probably the most unimportant route ever to get a 'proper' service area.

Leicester has a twin sister - Derby with Burton services at the A38/A50 interchange opened just over four weeks after Leicester and it almost identical to it.

Leicester Forest East Welcome Break services on the M1, 7 miles to the west.
Markfield Moto services on the A50, 9 miles to the west.

This is not a typical service station, do not expect great things, the services are closed at 10pm on a Saturday evening, you can use the petrol station for the toilet but not much good if you fancied a rest break, what a shame they couldn't come up to the same wonderful standards as the M1 Leicester Forest East Services (Ross' Motorway service).....I'll give it a miss
