A further note: contrary to what is stated on the Caffe Ritazza page, I don't remember them operating here. The cafe was branded as Cafe Nescafe for many years, following an experiment with it as a truckers' zone.

Yes, you're right. Scotch Corner was definitely a Pavilion, after they bought out Rank in 1992. It had a waitress service main restaurant too, as opposed to a self service one.

I'm sure that when I first visited this SA in the mid-1990s, it was newly converted to Granada from Pavilion, and before that it had been advertised from the road as Top Rank; there were several green signs around and the small cafe had an italic neon sign of the kind also seen in the period at Hilton Park. After the opening of the Little Chef this briefly became a truckers' area before conversion to Cafe Nescafe, a brand which remained at Scotch Corner until early 2008.
