Trivia:

The services were planned to be literally yards further up the M1, on the other side of the footbridge you can see 'sliproads to nowhere' and land shaped for a normal straight four-sliproad service area. I can only presume that an expansion of the industrial estate meant that the site had to be moved.

Never actually used Tibshelf because I'm baffled by the site layout! Yesterday in torrential rain (as opposed to usual night time visits) I was stuck between two white vans, the front one covered up the signs and when he went right I saw a sign with a bed over a "P" this I assumed was the car park for the "hotel" and turned right also. I finished up in the coach park noticed that there were two big rough looking lads there and a clamping sign. Got back into car and tried to get round to car park again. Once again signs were blocked from view by vehicle in front and when I saw the "P" sign I couldn't turn because of the prat on my boot! So off up the M1 to the next services. Tibshelf can get stuffed!

I keep wondering how far the underdevelopment and increasing grottiness of both the northbound and southbound services is a consequence of RoadChef having come in here as a partner (tenant?) of Swayfields. As a result, while RoadChef run the facilities building, the petrol station is run as part of Swayfields's leasing agreement with Shell, as seen at Extra MSAs and at Stop 24 Folkestone.

Stopped here last night for a coffee (Southbound) and found there was a RoadChef Gift Shop here - who needs gifts on the motorway *?*
