Trivia:

Wetherby was controversially given planning permission in 2007 under the name 'Kirk Deighton'. It was built by Christie and Company on the instruction of Moto, and it claimed to be the most environmentally-friendly service station around, with features including a large funnel to act as air conditioning and a giant 'wing' for a canopy.

It has a 126-bedroom hotel (the first to be built at a Moto which isn't a Travelodge), 67 HGV spaces, 20 coach spaces, 395 car parking spaces and a 309-space overflow car park.

The petrol station opened on the 5th July 2008, with the rest of the services opening on the 23rd August. It was thought for a while that the services would open under the name Kirk Deighton.

The original planning application for the services can be found here, including maps from page 10 and onwards.

Nice enough place, but a bit soulless. Good range of facilities and clean toilets.

They could have at least covered the board until it was relevant.

It is now signed from the motorway.

However, they must be getting confused people becuase it's signed Southbound as 'Moto Marks & Spencer' yet it's only a petrol station. How many people will that confuse!

It's looking to be pretty good, I don't think the junction will cope though.
