Trivia and History

Domino's Pizza.
The northbound Little Chef is now home to a Domino's store.

As early as 1978, land was designated for a north-eastbound service area here, next to the cottages. It was late connected to London Road and had the direct exit closed.

Both restaurants are former Little Chef/Burger King combination sites. Northbound was the Collingtree branch which opened in 1988 and closed in 1997, reopening in 1999 and closing again in 2005. The site was known as Collingtree services until the Little Chef closed, at which point the building was divided down the middle and became Domino's and a sub-let.

The southbound restaurant was built by AJ's. It became the Northampton branch of Little Chef in 1997 and closed in around 2005. Following the closure, the restaurant was purchased by local restaurant chain Buddies USA Diner. Following the coronavirus lockdown, the restaurant permanently closed in summer 2020.

In December 2020, the restaurant was purchased by the original owner of Buddies USA Diners Andrew Duthie and transformed into 'Hamburger Heaven '81', which takes its name from when the first Buddies diner opened back in 1981. The new restaurant opened on 14 December 2020 with room for 80 diners.

The southbound side shop used to be branded Mace. It is called 'Grange Farm' by BP, while Shell called their side 'Northampton'.

There is a Toby Carvery and Travelodge at the same junction as the northbound services, but they are separate from the service area.
