Trivia and History

This garage was built in the 1950s by Whitburn Autos, who offered NAFTA fuel. It was known as Lime Kilns Filling Station. The site became a Q8 filling station in 1987.

Snax 24 acquired the site in 1993, demolishing the former garage and redeveloping the site into a Fina forecourt. By the late 1990s this had become a BP forecourt.

Snax 24 planned to add an 80-seat restaurant to the south of the filling station in 1995, but this plan was refused and later withdrawn. This parcel of land continues to remain empty to this day, though it is fenced off.

The site was acquired by Rontec in 2014, following their acquisition of Snax 24, and they introduced their Shop'N Drive branded store to the site.

Neighbours

North of here is Hinckley's southbound partner, a former BP site that is positioned on the southbound side of the road, though both forecourts are accessible to traffic in both directions. Thanks to a very strange post code boundary, the two both have the exact same post code, causing some confusion.

In between those two was the Hinckley branch of Little ChefHistory, which was also on the southbound side. It closed in around 2005 and went on to become Auntie Ruth's Kitchen, then Bengal Chef and then Vanna's CafĂŠ.
