Hop Oast Service Station
Trivia and History
Outline planning permission for a filling station here was first submitted and granted in 1982. In 1988, there were plans to add a restaurant to the site but this was refused.
The filling station was eventually built and opened in around 1991 as a Shell site. A through road connecting to the Hop Oast park and ride site was later added.
Although the site is only signed when heading southbound, it is easily accessed from northbound by using the Hop Oast roundabout. A signed alternative for northbound traffic is also available further north on the A24 at Broadbridge Heath but it requires a major detour from the main A24 carriageway.
