Old Inns services
Old Inns is little more than a petrol station and a restaurant, which had a stroke of luck: first it was signed from the old A80 as a service area, and when that became a motorway, it received signs from the new motorway too.
Trivia and History
The services opened as a Little Chef alongside a petrol station, which had direct access from the A80 northbound, and access via a flyover for southbound traffic.
The Little Chef gained a Burger King in 1998, but despite high levels of trade, it closed in 2007, claiming it was unprofitable. The former Little Chef building then reopened as a Chinese buffet restaurant called 'Silk Cottage' however this closed in 2017.
When the A80 was replaced by the M80, the services gained new signs on the new road, making it one of the smallest services to be signed from a UK motorway.
