Stokenchurch services was a planned service area to the east of J5 of the M40. The services would have been built to the north of the motorway, with a full-access junction and access to a new roundabout on the A40. Presumably this means the old J5 would have been closed.
There would have been a Travelodge motel (which would have been separate from the rest of the services) and, amongst other things, a wildflower garden. The services took over from Tetsworth in being the preferred site on the M40, but eventually lost out with Oxford being built instead.
It was presumably rejected on environmental grounds as this is an environmentally sensitive area.
