17th February

The 17th February was day 30 of the M27 Widening roadworks, and it was my first go at driving through them. Here's what it looked like:

Joining the roadworks eastbound from J11, where everyone breaks and tries to squeeze in. Although at this rate it looks like the junction could easily clog up, fortunately the traffic lights at the roundabout give it time to clear up before more traffic joins. That message board is new.

Moving on to the temporary alignment.

There's not much to be seen from the road because of the barrier. I believe right now they are doing behind-the-scenes work to what's left of the central reservation to prepare it for the permanent concrete barrier.

Heading downhill now, and approaching J12. The gantry in the distance is telling people to drive in the works zone if they want to stay on the M27.

Heading westbound and the view of the works was even worse, not helped by the low sunlight, so this is the only pic I could get. Note that the hard shoulder wasn't actually wide enough to carry a narrow temporary lane.
