The 26th July was day 190 of the M27 Widening roadworks, and it's down to the final surfacing and installing the road signs. Here's what it looked like:
Looking west from the Hill Road overbridge, you can see that there isn't much work to be done now.
The barrier still has to be worked on, but the mileage signs have been put in and the poles are up for the hard shoulder sign.
Looking east at the crest of the hill, with a series of works vehicles parked to the side.
The new lane will end at the top of the hill, and these new signs reflect that.

Looking east from Downend Road, where more signs have been put up. The westbound carriageway has been resurfaced at some point too.

Looking west now, and the army of works vehicles parked here have gone, having resurfaced the hard shoulder and upgraded the drainage. Did that really require all that excavation?

Finally, here's a close-up of a variable message board - it looks like rather than moving the sign the hard shoulder will drop here. Incidentally, there's a message board on the M27 just beyond J10 which was deliberately built in to the hard shoulder as the highway boundary was too narrow for it to be any other way.
