Burger King offer at Sedgemoor North, situated in a separate conservatory building, right of the entrance, away from the other food brands here. Odd location and the fact Burger King lacks any customer seating of its own makes it inconvenient for customers wanting to eat in as they would walk the opposite end of the amenity building to get to customer seating. The KFC Drive Thru option not materialising here meant BK gets to keep its customers. This Burger King opened in 1996 as a result of Welcome Break being bought by Granada, who used BK at basically all their existing sites. It replaced Julie’s Pantry which would’ve been original to 1987. Burger King gets penalised at motorway services for its relaxed attitude to price inflation. It’s said that some products BK sell at motorway services are half the price in a non-motorway location. This factor makes BK a target for poor performances on surveys, and customers are put off the pricing. BK was last refurbished in 2018 with their new wooden scheme and self-service ordering systems. Burger King was closed during my visit (made at roughly 9am) and my photo was taken from outside, so the unit is completely empty. Sedgemoor North’s BK has shorter opening hours than most others on the motorways. Burger King is signposted from the M5 Northbound and is advertised from the Welcome Break totem pole as well as a few points around the site.
