Costa Coffee lounge at Birch West, situated at the back of the amenity building, furthest from the entrance (next to Greggs). Costa is an extremely profitable brand for Moto and is important in providing coffee for tired road users. However, Costa’s already expensive high street prices means the prices on the motorway are horrendous and unaffordable for many, giving Greggs more trade. Despite this Costa was still the busiest unit when I visited and is frequently advertised around the site as well as signposted from the M62. It lacks customer seating of its own, so it shares a communal seating area with BK. This Costa first opened in around 2008 when Moto either used alongside or replaced Cafe Ritazza with Costa. This is the only Costa here (no drive thru) so I’d assume this replaced a Cafe Ritazza from 2004 when this building was built. This Costa hasn’t changed since it first opened and is due to refurb like the Costa at Eastbound & some Costas at other Moto sites.
