Exterior of the amenity building at Sedgemoor North, operated by Welcome Break. This building was built by Trusthouse Forte in 1987 and one year later in 1988, was rebranded Welcome Break. Sedgemoor services has existed since 1975, but was known was Brent Knoll picnic area. In 1978, Forte added a temporary building here branded Motor Chef. This was done due to frequent vandalism of the previous setup. Southbound, operated by Roadchef, had no building until 1986. The current 1987 building hasn’t changed much, externally, since opening and hasn’t been extended at all. It’s a small building which seems much quieter than other M5 buildings. Oddly for Welcome Break, they don’t include much brand advertisement on the exterior of Sedgemoor. Most WB sites, such as Membury, obtain too many brand advertisements. The brown windows are original. Overall, Sedgemoor is a tidy place. This pic also evidences the Grid-serve EV charging points. Sedgemoor North was rather empty during my morning visit, making it easier to photograph. The site is signposted from the motorway, meaning drivers know when to leave the M5 to get here. Sedgemoor North also obtains a Days Inn motel.
