Note: Greggs is NOT yet open at Winchester Southbound, I asked to take photos and this unit will be open in due course. This is the interior of the new Greggs that will open at Winchester South, situated in a large unit previously being occupied by Costa. Greggs only uses space from the seating area of this Costa, with the servery being stripped out and currently used as storage. Winchester South was one of the last Moto’s to open a Greggs and when this unit opens to the public, it will likely bring lots of extra trade from the M3 South. This unit was left empty for around 4 years as Costa relocated to a kiosk within the seating area and no other brands utilised this unit as there’s never been much demand at Winchester as it’s always been a quiet services. I’d assume this Greggs will open very soon as all they need to do is remove the wooden structure over it and clean the unit up. Greggs opening will create competition for Costa and WPC. Greggs doesn’t have any of its own customer seating so customers will have to use the seating opposite Costa. However, it’s a spacious unit & larger than the Northbound Greggs. Greggs has always been popular at services due to it’s convenience serving hot/cold drinks and a range of baked goods. It’s also great value for money and Greggs don’t tend to inflate their motorway prices as much as other franchises Moto use. Its possible to assume that as this Greggs opens, the motorway signage at Winchester South will be updated to include the typical 6 brands as opposed to the 3 on display currently, and Greggs will be signposted from the road.
