A series of facilities have existed on the A1 at Aberford, at the Roman Ridge junction between Bramham Crossroads and the Aberford Bypass.
In 1965, a forecourt was built on the northbound side called 'Northways', opposite the Nuthill farm. This became 'Nuthill self serve'. In the late 1970s, the Aberford Little Chef was built on the southbound side opposite, next to the Nut Hill cottages. Some maps suggest it was originally a Roadchef.
These facilities were soon joined by a Roadchef restaurant, which they called Nuthill, built on the northbound side, which they sold to Little Chef.
Threatened by the upgrade to the A1, both Little Chefs closed in the 1990s. They were cut off by the new motorway, but the southbound building survives as an industrial office, while the Northways forecourt is buried under the A1(M).
Several possible services have since been investigated in this area.
