The Costa Drive Thru offering at Birch, situated alongside the Eastbound Car Park. It would’ve opened in 2017 and offers customers a quick way of getting Costa products without the need to park and enter Costa in the amenity building. This drive thru unit does take some trade from the internal lounge, but not significantly. This drive thru, as with all motorway Costa drive Thrus, lacks its own customer seating, it’s solely a takeaway kiosk. Another benefit of this Drive Thru kiosk is that Birch is an online site, meaning it’s situated directly off the M62 without the requirement to use a junction, so this drive thru can be accessed more easily and quickly. Despite this, the drive thru was empty during my visit. Costa is signposted as a drive thru from the M62 Eastbound here so customers understand they don’t have to park and stop.
