Exterior of the amenity building at Birch East, significantly changing between my visit & 1972 when the site was built. There was a large extension to the from, adding shops on route from the entrance to the food court. However in 2011, this extension was largely set alight when another fire destroyed the front of this building. It wasn’t as significant as the fire at Westbound, but still resulted in mass evacuation. Eastbound is the more interesting and historical building of the two at Birch, but more difficult to use and feels more cramped. This could, partially, be the reason Moto built a Costa drive thru here and not Westbound, to reduce the number of customers using Costa inside this building. Overall, it’s a tidy place with plenty of greenspace. The entire place was quiet during my visit as it was just before the lunchtime peak & most customers will drive on. Moto are yet to apply their new corporate branding to Birch Eastbound.
