KFC outlet at Rugby, situated within the food court between Costa and BK, opposite customer seating. KFC seems to take most of the fast food trade, being much busier than Burger King during my visit. KFC, historically, were a name strongly related to Welcome Break on the motorway network, with Moto’s only attempt being a single KFC which soon closed. They opened another KFC at Cherwell Valley in 2017, then gradually more opened. KFC opened here when the site did in 2021 and has always been popular. KFCs iconic menu means they stand out more and have a specific fan base, which is beneficial for Moto as they don’t have another “chicken shop” brand where KFC would take its customers. This has happened slightly with BK at their sites, as Moto seem to want to phase out BK as a brand they use as it’s not as exclusive. This KFC is a spacious takeaway unit without any of its own customer seating as there is a huge seating area opposite. Pricing at this KFC is inflated as it’s by the motorway so all products cost between 10-20% more than an ordinary high street branch. Due to how busy it was, KFC were selling out of food/drink items fast (no fizzy drinks this visit). KFC was fairly busy today, but my last visit to Rugby it was even busier. The unit still looks fresh, as does the entire site. KFC is signposted from both directions of the M6.
