McDonald’s outlet at Clacket Lane Westbound, situated left of the entrance alongside other food units in the “food court” area. McD is huge at Clacket Lane and first opened in 2012. It replaced Wimpy which itself replaced a Burger Bar called “Route 25” (likely referring to the M25). This McDonalds is open 24 hours, catering for scarce, overnight trade. Eastbound McDonalds closes overnight however. McDonald’s doesn’t obtain any of its own customer seating, but there’s plenty of communal seating surrounding the unit. Like all Roadchef McDonalds, we have touch-screen ordering points. These ordering points appear to be the reason McDonalds does so well in customer satisfaction surveys. However, McDonald’s is so popular here as it’s priced the same as a high street branch, so considerably cheaper than other food units here. McDonald’s takes loads of trade from LEON, Chozen and Costa at Clacket Lane West and could be a contributing factor as to why the Fresh Food Cafe closed here. McDonald’s was surprisingly quiet despite the time of day being roughly 10am, when most customers will get a McD breakfast. McDonald’s is signposted from the M25 and is advertised around the site frequently so passing trade, and customers to the building, don’t miss it.
