Trivia and History
Both facilities have been there for a long time - even the forecourt dates back to the 1930s. The hotel was called Rest-a-While, and then The Pear Tree.
The road layout in this area is complicated because the A38 used to run right through the middle of the site, which was called Castle Bridge, but the road was straightened in the 1940s and then bypassed completely in the 1970s.
There was a Little Chef just south of here, named Buckfastleigh.
The filling station shop here was branded Mace for a while.
