The first of a new wave of rest areas, Todhills and other rest areas is basically a small service station that could be the gateway to a whole new form of services. Watch this space.

Trivia and History
The site is often referred to as 'Moss services'.
In 2009 the services made local newspapers after it tried to sell alcohol on the grounds that a legal loophole meant it could do so, but a series of letters between BP and the Highways Agency saw that the plans were dropped.
Until 2008 Todhills had its own page on Moto's website. This was then removed and there was only a brief reference to it on their map, until recently, when the page was put back on.
In 2000, a Little Chef and Travelodge were built on the southbound side, on the site of a long-standing truckstop.
On creation of Moto, Todhills was regarded as a major service area, and as such became their responsibility. They operated the Little Chefs under a franchise agreement after the main Little Chef brand had been sold on.
Like many facilities on the A74, it was assumed Todhills would be closed when the road became a motorway.
However, as this particular section of the A74 proved much more financially (and politically) difficult to upgrade than the rest, Todhills went on to become the last remaining TRSA on the route. One deal hoping to see the road built saw Todhills guaranteed access from the new road.
To fulfil this, Todhills became the UK's first of a new breed of motorway rest area: a service station which doesn't necessarily provide food or fuel. A few miles up the road 20 years ago the same situation saw Gretna replaced.
When the A74 and the service station were upgraded, Moto swapped the Little Chef for a Costa, claiming it fitted the concept better - although in reality it was to fit their national portfolio. This creates the unusual situation where the Costa brand is applied across the whole building, including the lobby and former kitchen.
