Nesscliffe Services Ltd
A5 Nesscliffe Bypass South
Trivia and History
Plans for a service station here were originally proposed in 2002 when Nesscliffe Service Station Ltd. planned to build a filling station incorporating a restaurant and picnic area. The site was eventually built and opened in 2005 with a Jet filling station, a Spar store and the 'Food Station' café.
The site completely closed in 2012 but reopened in 2014 as a Shell site with the café becoming known as the Nesscliffe Pit Stop Café.
MFG acquired the site in late 2017 and re-branded the store to Londis. The Nesscliffe Pit Stop Café managed to soldier on until August 2018 when MFG closed it and replaced it with a Subway store in October 2018.
MFG were granted permission to build a Starbucks Drive Thru to the north of the filling station in March 2021. Initial plans for the drive-thru were rejected following concerns from Highways England about the exit of the drive-thru lane which had been planned to run across the front of the forecourt sales building amongst several others. The new plans will see the drive-thru lane run to the north of the forecourt and exit placed into the rear car park rather than the main forecourt.
Following the coronavirus lockdowns in 2020, MFG decided to permanently close the Subway store.
