Trivia and History

A separate lay-by for HGVs is provided for vehicles heading south along the A876, signposted from the exit immediately before Bowtrees. This was built with the junction improvement in 2008. Prior to this, there was a second, older, petrol station, opposite the existing one - this was demolished to make way for the new flyover.

The service area was developed by Action 2000 Ltd in 1990 with the filling station opening in around 1992. Fuel was originally provided by Q8, who called it Kincardine Bridge service station. This later changed to BP in around 2008. The Brewers Fayre pub-restaurant was added in 1994 with the hotel (a Travel Inn at time of opening) opening last in 1999.

The filling station used to feature a Spar branded store however this was changed to Londis in 2020.
