Co-op Food is a subsidiary of The Co-Operative Group. Co-op Food is a large chain of small supermarkets and convenience stores, some of which are based at service areas.
In March 2009 the Co-Operative Group took over the Somerfield chain in order to merge with the former Co-Operative Food brand. At the time it was stated that all Somerfield's over a period of time would be re-branded as 'The Co-Operative Food'.
In 2017, after a re-brand the previous year, the Co-op started to withdraw Texaco in favour of own branded Co-op Petrol sites.
In 2019, two sites in Kent were rebranded as Welcome, a new name for franchised Southern Co-op sites.
