Trivia and History
The first plans for a service area here emerged in 1995, proposed by Action 2000. The proposal initially covered the full plot of land, but was scaled back.
The forecourt opened in around 1997. Despite initial plans from Shell, it was built by Mobil for BP. Little Chef then planned to build a restaurant on the remaining plot of land, but this was withdrawn in 1999. Instead the hotel opened there in around 2004.
