Trivia:
In November 2006 Thurrock gained a WH Smith store as well as a Marks and Spencer Simply Food outlet. Unusually, the WH Smith did not replace the Retail Store, which has been the case at most other services.

i traveled home from Colchester to brighton on thursday 11.6.09 with my partner and our 11 month old son. As it was midday we needed to stop to feed him and we saw the service sign for Thurrock and decided to stop. As we drove around into the car park we was impressed with the entre as it looked clean and it had a M & S which should indicate a good place to eat. Once inside I purchased from EDS a meal for my parter a wrap and some soup which were very good. I wanted a burger so i went to Burger king and asked for a whopper. No burgers were on the heat trays at all and i thought i would have to wait 5 mins whilst my burger was made and cooked but after 30 seconds it was handed to me. Strange but i was hungry and after paying $4.19 for my whopper i wanted to enjoy it. I unwrapped it once back at my table and the first thing i noticed was the bottom bun was very very hot which i knew was wrong. I cook at home alot and the bun should not be that hot and even the burger is not that hot. The bottom bun was wet and the lettuce was hot as well all pointing to my burger being microwaved. the bottom bun was also soggy wet and slimy. So i returned my burger and asked for a refund which i was given with a "sorry". the inside of the Moto building is very dirty and all the cutlery in EDS was dirty. I ended up in M&S getting a ham sandwhiche for £1.50. If you visit this service station go to M&S and get some good reliable food thats not to over priced like the rest is in there. i will never ever go to this place again and will not recommend it either. disgusting.
