Ratings: Best and Worst

Since 2007 Motorway Services Online has allowed anyone to rate different services and operators. A selection of the data can be found below with the best or worst services in each respect listed alongside their current rating and the number of votes there are. The same information from the first year is also included to see how things have changed.

Best Services

An odd combination here - a couple of newer services with modern facilities, but a few surprises too - such as Thurrock which at the time of writing is 7th. Cullompton has made an impressive climb since it was chosen as the very worst in 2006.

Worst Services

I included the extra column here as several of the smaller Little Chef/Burger King services with few ratings make it onto the list - I wonder if it's the lack of facilities putting people off or something else? It's good to see that Kinross, which is currently at the top of the list, is due to be rebuilt soon anyway - equally Rivington has just been rebuilt and if all has gone to plan then it should see its rating increase over the next year. Moto appear to be particularly dominant here.

The 2007 results stop after nine as there's insufficient data. It's a bit late to do something about that now!

Most Votes

Just for your interest this one - it doesn't really have a lot of meaning. If you haven't already worked it out I should point out that the range of data was much smaller in 2007 as this was a much smaller site. Generally the services with the most votes are the ones which people have been talking about: talk generates interest, interest generates hits and hits generate votes.

The Operators

So Extra have shot forward, with Moto and Welcome Break also improving, but presumably all of Roadchef's problems in 2008/9 are still haunting them as they've had quite a big drop. New entry Euro Garages don't do particularly well, perhaps taking on poor services wasn't their best idea.
